Sharing kindness with patients at Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion

Until now, I have volunteered for several charities aimed at different underprivileged groups around Hanoi. This time, I volunteered to help serve free porridges for the patients at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. I remember waking up at 4:00 a.m. to go to the destination and set up the serving area. Still, I felt as spirited as ever because I knew many people were hungry for a hot, nutritious breakfast to improve their health.

Serving hot meals to the patients
There were a lot more people than I initially thought

My mission was to prepare and scoop porridges into the food containers that the patients brought along. In addition to two different flavors, we also offered them some seasonings, such as spring onion or fried onion. Even though I was slightly clumsy in using such a big ladle, other volunteers guided me patiently. With practice, I eventually got better at utilizing the tool.

We worked nonstop before the food turned lukewarm. The event was brief, but I got the opportunity to participate in the event again a few more times. Seeing the happiness on the patient's face after receiving the meal was an effective pill for me to overcome the tiredness and also motivated me to continue sharing love with those in needs.
